Photofiltre Studio is an image editing program useful for basic image alterations.
Unlike Photoshop, GIMP or Corel Photo-Edit, Photofiltre Studio has a fairly quick learning curve. Its interface design falls somewhere between MS Paint and more-advanced programs. This program is ideal for users who want to quickly apply filters to photos. That is not to say that Photofiltre is primitive, however.
It offers a wide range of photo filters, paint tools, shape tools and adjustments. You can access almost everything you need to perform basic adjustments and apply filters through the main toolbar across the top. Tools include a red-eye removal utility and standard color and value adjustment utilities, such as brightness, contrast and saturation. There is also a selection of standard photographic filters such as sepia tone and black-and-white filters. Novelty filters can be used to create artistic effects and turn your photos into paintings, such as watercolor, India ink and mosaic tiles.
The program is made by a French developer, but the program itself is available in English and an extensive selection of other languages. In-program help will get you through all the basics, and you may be able to find tutorials on the developer's website. Many of the tutorials are not available in English, however, so you may have to do some hunting to find information in English. But since the program itself does not offer very advanced editing functionality, you may be able to figure out most of the options through experimentation.
The program is compatible with Windows 2000 and later, does not take up much disk space and has lower system requirements than Photoshop or other major editing software.
Photofiltre Studio is an excellent program for basic photo editing if you are a beginner or do not wish to spend a lot of time learning advanced programs.
